Location
Vallauris, set in the hills above the magnificent Golfe Juan, with stunning panoramic views of the Bay of Cannes, the lles de Lιrins and the Esterel mountains. The old Vallauris oozes Mediterranean charm and boasts a tradition of pottery. Picasso spent ten years here.
Environment : Peaceful residential hamlet with pretty views over the hills.
PLACES TO VISIT:
Biot. Beautiful and picturesque little village best known for its glassware.
Cannes. Beachside resort with its large promenade, chic boutiques, restaurants, bars, shops and festivals including the famous Cannes film festival in May each year. A walk along the Croisette, harbour and sandy beaches is a must.
Antibes-Juan les Pins. Two towns in one! Antibes with its vibrant historic centre with narrow winding streets, a good choice of restaurants, cafιs, theatres, piano bars, chic hotels, private clubs and Picasso museum, and Juan les Pins renowned for its gorgeous beaches, exciting nightlife with fashionable night clubs, casino and even night shopping. Also Cap d`Antibes, a small piece of paradise, home to a number of millionaires.
Thιoule sur Mer. Charming seaside resort nestling in a small cove at the foot of the Estιrel mountain with red rocky inlets and beautiful sandy beaches shaded by exotic palm trees and majestic parasol pines.
THINGS TO DO:
Golf Country Club de Cannes Mougins, Mougins. Golf course. 18 holes Par 72 - 6312m. In the heart of a magnificent forest, a technical course full of variety and nicely landscaped with few but strategically placed water hazards.
Visiobulle Antibes, Juan les Pins. Boat trip. An hour long excursion in a glass-bottomed boat to discover the Cap d`Antibes with stunning underwater view.
Marineland, Antibes. Aquarium. The greatest marine show in Europe with dolphins, orcas, killer whales and seals. Also aquariums and a 30m-long tunnel surrounded by sharks!
Canyon Forest, Villeneuve Loubet. Tree top adventure park/Canyoning. Acrobatic adventure park for the young (8 yrs old+) and not so young. Discover at your own pace the 4 trails on offer after an enjoyable 10mn bike ride along a river. Going from tree to tree, balance yourself through an assortment of games such as rope bridges, tarzan swings and giant zip lines, including for the bravest, the longest zip line in France (331m) where you can expect to reach a maximum speed of 70 km/h! Canyoning also available. For the little ones, Pitchoun Forest is a more accessible course for children aged 3 to 10. Larger, more secure and more amusing with an easier access.
FURTHER AFIELD:
St Paul de Vence. One of the most beautiful and most visited villages in France which has attracted many artists due to its great natural beauty. Also home to Fondation Maeght, Frances most important modern art museum with a remarkable collection of paintings, sculptures, drawings and other graphic works from the 20th century.
Nice. Fashionable and unmissable seaside resort with its wonderful Promenade des Anglais, a long boulevard along the seaside dotted with palm trees, its old town with pretty colourful architecture and narrow streets. Take a stroll along the flower market in the Cours Saleya, restaurants serving Mediterranean and sea food and bars. Nice is cool in winter and hot in summer!!!
Grasse. Fascinating historic town and world`s perfume capital. Explore the delightful narrow streets or go on one of the factory tours offered by some of the most famous perfume houses.
Tourrettes sur Loup. Charming hill top medieval village known as the Violet village and surrounded by superb landscapes. Well worth a detour.
