Its historic quarter is filled with pretty winding cobbled streets and quaint half-timbered houses. Pont Aven. 20 km. Artists haunt situated inland from the tip of the Aven estuary. It is a small port popular with tourists and boasting many art galleries. Made famous by Gauguin when he came to paint in the 1880s before leaving for Tahiti and inspired the Pont Aven school. Lorient. 25 km. Bustling city with wide boulevards and a vast array of stylish shops, lying on an immense natural harbour protected from the ocean by the Groix island. Famous for its fantastic Celtic festival held every August when all Celtic nations meet for a week of music and celebrations. Not to be missed. Concarneau. 35 km. Fishing port with delightful fortified old city. Enjoy a stroll through the small town and dont miss the famous Kouign Amann, a Breton cake full of butter and sugar. Very naughty but so delicious!
